Wheel spurs and ball spurs are types of spurs that are attached to the back of a cowboy boot. Wheel spurs have a circular wheel-like design, while ball spurs have a rounded ball at the end. These spurs are used by cowboys to help communicate with their horses by gently nudging or signaling them to move in a certain direction. They are also used for decoration and are a traditional part of cowboy attire. **

The best spurs for you will depend on your specific needs and preferences. Look for spurs that are made of high-quality materials, such as stainless steel, and have a comfortable fit. Consider the type of riding you will be doing and choose spurs that are appropriate for that discipline. It's also important to consider the size and style of the spur to ensure it is effective and comfortable for both you and your horse. Ultimately, the best spurs are the ones that provide clear communication with your horse while also being comfortable and humane. **

Soft spurs are small, rounded bony growths that develop on the underside of the heel bone. They are typically not painful and are often discovered incidentally during X-rays for other foot conditions. Soft spurs are different from traditional heel spurs, which are sharp and can cause pain and inflammation. Soft spurs do not usually require treatment unless they are causing discomfort or contributing to other foot problems. **

Gentle spurs are a type of horse riding equipment that are designed to provide subtle cues to the horse. They are typically made of rounded, smooth materials such as rubber or plastic, and are used to encourage the horse to move forward or to respond to the rider's leg aids. Gentle spurs are intended to be used with light pressure and are not meant to cause discomfort or pain to the horse. They are often used by experienced riders as a refined aid for communicating with their horse. **

It is generally not recommended to ride desensitized school horses with spurs. While desensitized horses may be less reactive to aids, using spurs can still cause discomfort or confusion for the horse. It is important to always prioritize the well-being and comfort of the horse when using any type of equipment or aids. If spurs are necessary for a particular riding situation, it is best to use them on a horse that is trained to respond appropriately to their use. **

Horse spurs can be considered animal cruelty if they are used in a way that causes unnecessary pain or harm to the horse. When used improperly or excessively, spurs can cause discomfort, injury, or distress to the horse. It is important for riders to use spurs responsibly and with proper training to ensure that they do not cause harm to the animal. Additionally, there are regulations and guidelines in place in some equestrian sports to prevent the misuse of spurs and protect the welfare of the horses. **

The spurs you should take depend on the type of riding you will be doing. If you are doing general riding or trail riding, a mild, rounded spur would be suitable. For more advanced riding or competition, a sharper, longer spur may be necessary for more precise cues. It's important to choose a spur that matches your skill level and the sensitivity of your horse, and to always use spurs responsibly and with proper training. **

Yes, these spurs are very sharp. They are designed to be sharp in order to effectively dig into the horse's sides and provide the necessary cues for the rider. It is important for riders to use spurs with caution and skill to avoid causing unnecessary discomfort or harm to the horse. **
